Principles of Hospitality and Tourism classes was visited by guest speaker Wanda Minx from Evan’s Travel on Monday, Dec. 12th. She discussed her job, what it takes to be a travel agent, and local/regional travel issues. The students enjoyed the different stories about traveling and the fun that they could have in the business. To pursue this occupation will require a degree and on the job training. Wanda discussed the variety of cruise lines and ships, she also stated that most of the cruise lines go out of Florida but that Disney Cruise line will be going out of Galveston for 12 weeks next September, 2012. People are already booking it! Students asked questions and shared some travel stories with her also. She said that there is something special on cruises for every age, great food and fun places to visit. To end her presentation, Wanda gave out a beautiful frame and a $50 gift certificate for travel to a lucky “name drawn” winner.
