Texas A & M University College of Architecture will be hosting Camp ARCH this summer from July 8th-13th. The program accepts high school students who have completed the 9th grade or higher and incoming freshmen. The resident summer camp is designed to give young people an opportunity to experience the professions of Architect, Constructor and Visual Designer. The program accepts high school students who have completed the 9th grade or higher and incoming college freshmen. The students will be housed in dormitories on the Texas A & M Campus and will be taught by faculty/graduate students from the College of Architecture. FAFSA

FAFSA Application Assistance for Students who will attend college:

We have scheduled two meetings for parents and students to complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online.

We will offer a daytime opportunity on February 28, 2012 – 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM in Room 903/904.

The evening session will be on March 8, 2012 – 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM in Room 903/904.

Both sessions will be conducted with area financial aid experts and will enable parents to fully submit their information. PLEASE RSVP TO MRS. PEPPER IN THE PTHS COUNSELING CENTER.

The following documentation will need to be brought to the session :

1. Student’s social security number and drivers license number
Student’s 2011 tax return (if filed) and student’s W2(s). If student worked but did not file I will only need the W2.
Parent’s/stepparent’s month and date of marriage or separation
Parent(s)/stepparent’s social security number and date of birth
Parent(s) tax return (if filed) and W2 – I cannot complete the FAFSA if tax return needs to be completed but has not been filed.
Other sources of income:
Child support received
Unemployment
Disability or pension payments
Assistance from family or friends
Child support paid

7. I do not need to know the amounts of any of these sources, I only need to know if the family receives:
TANF
Food Stamps
WIC
Social Security or SSI
Free or Reduced lunches

8.Number of people who live in the house that the parents support and how many of those people will be attending college in 12-13.

9.If student’s are in legal guardianships of any kind – I will need court documents

If student’s are homeless or identified as homeless by school officials – documentation from a counselor.

If students live with another relative or have been raised by another someone other than parents – some type of documentation. (Power of Attorney, Court documents, School records, etc.)

Prom

Seniors can pay their prom fee in the cafeteria on Feb. 17 & 24 and the ALL Fridays in March. Seniors can also pay any day in Mrs. Vestal’s office or mail to Lyn Blount 1212 Daffodil Ln, Longview, TX 75604. The fee is $75.00 and pays for Prom, After Prom, and Senior Picnic.

There is an additional $30.00 fee for Non-PTHS Senior dates to Prom and After Prom.

We are taking orders for prom t-shirts as well. Cost is $10.00 and can be ordered and paid for on the above Fridays during lunch or in Mrs. Vestal’s HS business office.

For Juniors

We now have the applications for the Texas Bank and Trust Student Board of Directors. This is a prestigious program recognizing outstanding seniors in our community. Students who qualify to serve will attend meetings throughout the school year where they will learn about banking, budgeting, credit, the stock market, trust and brokerage services, job interviewing, and will serve as advisors to the bank on industry-related issues such as the use of social media and updates on the bank’s website. Students will also be featured in the bank’s People in our Community who Make a Difference article in the Longview News-Journal and receive benefits for attendance and participation. The current application is for Seniors 2013-(current Juniors from Longview, Pine Tree, and Spring Hill High Schools, and Trinity School of Texas are eligible to apply for board positions.)

APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE PTHS COUNSELING CENTER.

Where Were You in ’42? is February 17th and 18th at the First United Methodist Church on Fredonia. The show will begin at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door. All proceeds benefit Operation Appreciation!

AP Exams

2012 AP Exam Registration is February 27-March 8. Registration forms available in the PTHS Counseling Center (Completed registration forms must be turned in to the Counseling Center by Thursday, March 8.) *****Students in AP Classes do not need to register***** The $87 fee must be paid with the submission of an application for a student requesting to take an AP Exam for a course in which he/she is not enrolled. Please make checks payable to Pine Tree ISD and submit your payment and application to the Counseling Center by Thursday, March 8th.

Zonta Prom Boutique

How to Get a Prom Dress!

Zonta Club of Longview will be hosting our 4th Annual Prom Boutique on March 24th from 8:00 am-6:00 pm.

The Prom Dress Boutique has dresses available for high school girls who are having difficulty purchasing a Prom Dress. Each girl will have the opportunity to come to the boutique during the hours of 8 am-6 pm, first come first served, and shop for the dress that makes them feel like Cinderella. There is not cost for the prom dress. Recipients for services provided by The Prom Boutique of Zonta Club of Longview must be able to present proof of enrollment in school district.
