The library is now closed to checking out books. All library books are due between now and Tuesday, May 15.
The yearbook staff won 24 individual awards and a Silver Star Award at the state journalism convention in Austin last weekend for the 2011 book. The 2012 book is due back in the next couple of weeks. Anyone who made a deposit needs to finish paying for their book before the books are delivered. Extras bought after the books are handed out will cost $80. Students can still purchase a book for $68.50 this week. The yearbook room is now 405 until the 600 hall construction is completed.
Yearbook and newspaper applications are available from Mrs. Duncan in 405 or in the counselor’s office. Students who want to be on staff should fill out an application and return it by May 18.
Congratulations to Brittany Conway! She qualified for the state track meet in Austin and will be competing in the pole vault on Friday at the University of Texas. Good Luck Brittany!!!
ART CLUB students going to Ripley’s Believe or Not his weekend must pick up their permission slip today and bring back by Friday.
The Pine Tree High School Tennis Team will have tryouts from Monday, May 14 through Thursday, May 17 at 3:30 – 4:30 at the Pine Tree tennis courts in front of the Jr. High. The tryout will serve as identification for admission into the program. You must sign up in room 911 before May 10. All participants should have their physical, essay, tennis racquet and necessary paperwork by the first day of tryouts.
The Pirates won their Bi-district play-off series against Sherman and will now play for the Area Championship!

The Pine Tree High School yearbook, the Buccaneer, received the UIL Silver Star Award at the Interscholastic League Press Conference last weekend. This award places the yearbook in the top 10 percent of yearbooks in all classifications.
The yearbook staff also brought home 24 Individual Achievement Awards for writing, photography and design. The group received three gold medals, nine silver medals, five bronze medals and seven honorable mention awards. This is the most individual awards the staff has ever won, and to earn a Star Award for eight consecutive years speaks to the program’s dedication to excellence.
The editor for the 2011 Buccaneer was Austin Ferguson, a 2011 graduate. Current editors are seniors Ashley Morales and Lizzi Davis.
Spanish Club will hold a meeting after school Wednesday, May 9th at 3:30 p.m. in Room 205.
